Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, met today with the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation and ways to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed progress on the understandings reached during the first meeting between the two sides and discussed updates on the coordination of French-funded development and humanitarian projects in Yemen, as well as the government’s priorities in the areas of health, education, child protection, water, and sanitation.

The two sides also explored opportunities to expand cooperation into new areas, including education, institutional capacity building, and climate finance. They emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of local organizations in project implementation to promote sustainability and enhance national capacities.

Dr. Al-Zouba stressed the importance of aligning development projects with the government’s programme and ensuring their equitable geographic distribution so that assistance reaches the areas most in need. She also commended France’s continued support for Yemen across the humanitarian, development, and cultural sectors.

For her part, Ambassador Catherine Corm-Kammoun reaffirmed France’s commitment to continuing its support for Yemen and to deepening its partnership with the new government.
