Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, met today with the Ambassador of Japan to Yemen, Yoichi Nakashima, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, as well as joint development projects and the technical and economic assistance provided by Japan to Yemen.
The virtual meeting reviewed a number of proposed development initiatives and programmes for the coming period, including a workshop on Yemen’s reconstruction that will draw on Japan’s post-World War II reconstruction experience. The workshop is expected to be held next month in Aden with the participation of several government institutions and international partners.
Dr. Al-Zouba emphasized the importance of the longstanding bilateral relationship between Yemen and Japan, commending Japan’s continued support for the Yemeni people across both humanitarian and development sectors, particularly in health, education, water, and agriculture.
For his part, Ambassador Nakashima reaffirmed Japan’s readiness to further strengthen its partnership with Yemen and provide additional support for strategic projects that address the country’s development priorities during both the current phase and the years ahead.
